Questions about the news feed
- Safety notices on CookTheGuide are taken exclusively from official food-safety authorities — never from social media or unverified sources. Primary sources include the UK Food Standards Agency alerts, the USDA FSIS recalls page, and the European Food Safety Authority news.
- The news feed is updated as new guides, tools or official safety notices are published. Site updates are typically weekly; food-safety notices are added as soon as an official source issues them. Each item shows the exact date it was added.
- The "In season" category covers produce that is at its best quality during the current month, based on region. What is in season varies significantly — in the UK, broad beans peak in June; in California, they peak March–May. Sources like the Seasonal Food Guide and Eat Seasonably UK cover this by region.
